Our story
Pilates that feels special — without the fuss.
Beam began with a simple belief: that good Pilates, taught properly and kept personal, can change how you feel in your body. Here's how it came to be.
Where it started
A studio built the way it should be.
Tamsin Morgan trained comprehensively across every piece of the Pilates apparatus — the reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and mat — and spent years teaching movement she genuinely believes in. Along the way, one thing became obvious: the studios that changed people weren't the flashiest. They were the ones that kept classes small, taught technique honestly, and actually paid attention.
So that's what Beam is. A warm, unhurried space in Devonport where the teaching is proper, the groups stay small, and the work is built around your body — whether you're chasing strength and posture, easing back pain, moving through pregnancy, or simply carving out an hour that's yours.
No jargon. No intimidation. No pretending you need to already be fit to begin. Just mindful movement, taught well, by someone who cares how you leave feeling.
What we stand for
Three things we won't compromise on
Taught properly
Classical, comprehensive training across the whole studio — not a watered-down class on repeat.
Kept small
Low numbers so we can actually see you, cue you, and adjust in the moment.
Genuinely personal
We care how you move — your back, your goals, your day. You're a person here, not a booking.
"I had the pleasure of attending Pilates classes with Tamsin for approximately three years, and I can honestly say she was one of the most supportive and motivating instructors I've trained with. She has a calm, encouraging style that makes you feel comfortable straight away, no matter your level. Her instructions are always clear and easy to follow, and she has a great ability to gently correct technique in a way that builds confidence rather than intimidation. What really stood out to me was how attentive she is to each individual in the class — she creates a welcoming environment while still ensuring you get a strong, effective workout. I always left her classes feeling stronger, more balanced and energised. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, approachable and genuinely caring Pilates instructor."
